For years, Amelia wondered where Arthur had vanished to. Though it felt like an abandonment the moment that Arthur didn't turn up to their lesson that fateful day when she was ten, she soon learned that he wasn't just avoiding her - He simply was not anywhere to be found. Had he fled the kingdom? No, he couldn't have, he wouldn't have just left without warning anyone unless something big happened. Foul play? The mystery persisted for years, and the more time passed, the more everyone (Amelia included) began to wonder if Arthur was even alive - or if he was, if he would ever return. The King remarried, and the kingdom carried on. Amelia carried on too, teaching herself where Arthur left off. She wasn't about to give up on one of her favorite (yet secret) hobbies, not after she'd come so far already
Then, ten years after his disappearance, Arthur returned..and he hadn't changed one bit, from the sound of it. Amelia was confused, and had to see it for herself. "He's been missing for ten years, and you're trying to tell me he hasn't changed? I don't buy it, let me see him for myself." She imagined reunions with the man that she came to think of as an older brother when she was a child, but in her imagination he'd always aged with her. He should be in his mid 30s. She smoothed out her outfit and hair, wanting to make the best impression.
Reluctantly, she was led to the area where Arthur was said to be waiting. She opened her mouth to shout a greeting in his direction, but her voice died within her throat. There Arthur stood, completely unchanged from how she remembered him. The fifteen year age difference now appeared to be five. "Hey Arthur, it's Amel..uh..you're still young. Why..how..what happened?" The servant standing next to her, the one that led her over in the first place, wore a somewhat amused smirk on her face.
Right, this was embarrassing. It was at this point that something else occurred to her - If she was feeling this way, how must Arthur feel? How did she manage to take an already awkward situation and make it ten times more awkward? Nevertheless, the longer she stood in Arthur's presence, the more she realized that no, her eyes weren't deceiving her..this was her cousin, the older cousin she'd come to think of as an older brother figure when she was little. And he was finally back. So she did something on a whim, something that she usually saved for more private situations, something that might be seen as a bit unseemly for someone who'd finally mastered her etiquette lessons at long last..she ran up to Arthur and threw her arms around him. Not like anyone other than a couple of servants were watching
