It took him long enough, but once he found out exactly what a 'swan' was, Lovino was quick to take action.
He had been hearing a lot of the humans speak of a swan girl, as they stated, who would come up and ask them questions. Lovino didn't quite catch what they meant when they spoke of what exactly the said girl asked of, but that didn't really matter. He first brushed it off as just another useless information, when he heard one of the human children ask their own mother what a swan was, possibly having heard the adults speak of it. At that, Lovino remembered clearly his ears picking up the explanation, having recognized simple words spoken within the description said mother treated her child with. Though many words were indeed spoken, the two that the cat needed to recognize the most to put him to his current situation was simply "big" and "bird". All the other words used in the said description were useless to the feline's care.
Lovino knew exactly what big was. Big was size, and big meant just that; big. To the cat, of course, most things appeared 'big', but this was only a plus in his mind when it was used with the word 'bird', which he also learned over the years as he commonly heard it be spoken when regarding to the delicious creatures that had the strange ability to float in the air. A small bird he found most commonly in the park he resided in lasted him a meal, two at most. If this bird was so 'big', however... Lovino gulped to prevent drool from coming out his mouth.
He needed to catch this bird. It could keep him fed for who knew how long; at least long enough he could have a good break from stealing and fighting other street cats for resources. He was confident he was a good hunter, after all. Minding his own business and trying to find the area humans spoke more often of the said 'swan', Lovino currently found himself near the ocean. He blinked slowly curiously, listening in on the waves and the fisherman at work at a distance, but they were out of sight luckily. If this hunt was unsuccessful, he could always go and check out if they had any fish they were willing to share; sometimes they had one or two they were willing to toss to him, those that wouldn't be sold in stores for a good price.
Shaking his head, the cat decided to refocus his senses to anything unfamiliar. His nose picked up a scent of several fish and salt water, as well as a couple of birds he could only assume, were the nasty seagulls and pelicans above that often swooped down to steal fish were to be given to him. Over the years, he had learned to keep an eye out for them whenever he got lucky with a treat.
But other than that, he couldn't notice anything else. His ears lowered in disappointment as he began turning to the direction he heard the fisherman from for at least something to take back to his nesting shelter when the breeze helped him by bringing him a strange scent. A... Bird? But it wasn't one he smelled often around the area. Curious, he cautiously followed the scented trail until he came across its source. A strangely scented white fluff... Lovino approached it and gave it a quick bat with his paw, realizing it was made of the similar fur that came from birds, making him bat at is several more times more out of caution to see if it'll come to life. When it didn't move, he thought for a bit before he lowered his head and pulled a corner up with his mouth, beginning to drag it along as he walked. If it wasn't alive... And as soft as it was, it would make for a perfect bedding. He was taking it back to his shelter.
