It was just another Friday afternoon, not particularly sunny, nor gloomy, just average in all ways. Mia had chosen to spend what was left of the day studying before she allowed herself a well-deserved break for the weekend. Was tea from a cafe necessary for studying? Not at all, but it was the little things in life that made for the best treats. She felt the building was also a nice place to study and look over notes; it was far less lonely than being cooped up in her room or her brother’s apartment, even if she never intended to strike up a conversation with any of the other patrons. They no doubt had their own busy lives and interesting plans to get to, she wasn’t involved in that. So just the atmosphere was enough for her, and after studying for class after class after class, she needed a good atmosphere before she looked at anymore textbooks or study guides.
Now that the line seemed to die down at the counter, Mia supposed she may as well try to order another drink before it picked back up. She grabbed her bag -an old red one she kept more out of sentimentality than practicality- and made her way to speak to the barista. Walking to a counter to order a drink (and maybe a treat, if she saw one she wanted) should have been a simple enough matter, but things can often go awry in the most unwanted of ways. When Mia was more focused on finding her wallet than where she walked, still trying to recall the proper answer to the last question she had been working on, and wondering if the cute boy that she sometimes saw working was there yet… well, she was only unintentionally inviting things to go awry.
But, when she walked right into another person, at least she could honestly say she hadn’t seen them coming. Instead, she felt them before her eyes were on them, and unfortunately felt their drink on her ballet flats. Burning hot coffee and shoes with little protection really were not a fun combination. “Ow, ow ow!!” That was enough to make her drop her bag, her focus now very much on this stranger. It was a man she had run into, one that she might have considered rather cute if she hadn’t been panicking at the moment. She could have even noticed his features were quite similar to that cute boy that worked here. And unlucky for him, he was wearing far more of his coffee than she and her shoes did. That couldn’t have felt good, and she reacted the first way she thought to.
“S-Saa! I’m so sorry!”
@puchi sorry about ur coffee bruh

Many college students would've probably chanted that Fridays were the best weekday out of all five school days, seeing once classes were over and done with, there awaited freedom. Lovino was no different, except, he had a habit of skipping his Friday classes for the sake of his disinterest in the subject of chemistry. Honestly, he wondered just how his parents expected him to be a doctor and keep the family line going as the Vargas medical lines when he himself could not hold an interest in the basics of medicines itself. If he was perhaps brave enough, he might've even laughed at the irony itself; if anything, his half brothers possibly were better fits for the jobs his father wanted him to follow in the steps of. As far as he knew of the situation, however, Feliciano and Marcello seemed to have the freedom to not have to face the pressure, and it made him... No lie, quite jealous. At the very least, his family seemed to enjoy sending him tons of extra cash to keep him busy. He wasn't particularly much of a party boy himself, so several times he caught himself wondering just exactly what all the money itself was for, but he learned to just accept it as it came in. It wasn't long until he found the use of the burnable revenue. And it was Fridays that bulks of said cash would be spent nearby in an alleyway near the cafe many students spoke of fondly. If he remembered correctly, his youngest half brother also worked here? Not that it really changed or mattered in any way, Lovino had his own agenda himself. Pushing past the man after he was given the small plastic bags with the white powder in exchange for his parents' money, Lovino pushed his newly obtained stress-relievers into his jacket pocket and decided to take a break from his own dorm room. Or what was once one; who knew if one could even call that garbage dump of a place a dorm room anymore. He hadn't cleaned it... Ever. Last time it was 'cleaned' was when he had a roommate, and it was only because said roommate wanted to have a decent dorm room to call partly his own. Lovino however just dominated the room and the other boy left, which led to his current roommate-less situation. Not that he really cared... Lupo the stray cat came to visit him often enough to keep him company. He entered the cafe just as the line seemed to die down, making the boy unable to feel a grin tug at the end of his lip. He didn't like waiting in long lines; a cup of quality was great, but not at the cost of having to wait forever to get one. In most instances he found himself cutting in line and playing dumb when caught, while also 'innocently' adding on a small apology--but not before he already ordered before doing so. Perhaps that attitude will bite him in the back one day, but today didn't seem to be one of those, luckily. He wouldn't mind waiting in a relatively short line in a fair, gentlemanly manner. Today, he got his coffee smoothly and was going to take a seat at one of the smaller unoccupied spaces -- when he was suddenly bumped into. The first thing that registered in Lovino's senses was the pain. Feeling the hot cappuccino he just purchased spill over him, mainly on his chest and stomach, made him cry out in a short yelp-like noise. Truly a pathetic noise if he were to look back on it one day; he sounded like a small child crying out in such manner. "Chigi!!" His verbal tick jumped out, himself already backing away from his own fallen cup he had dropped on the floor. He was about to yell at the person who bumped into him, having a list of cuss words he could use in anger ready to be blurted out, but he was stopped by the apology first from the soft yet panicked voice. Immediately Lovino looked up to the said owner of the voice and his voice caught in his throat in an instant. ...She was so... Cute. The focus on the pain on his chest that fueled his anger seemed to vanish, and he found himself already making his way to her to close their distance, unable to help but to wince when the burning reminder of his spilled beverage traced along his chest. "I-I'm fine... Are you okay? You..." He blinked, olive eyes catching sight of her coffee spilled shoes, "Y-Your shoes..."
@thatbambikid I tried to get him to focus on something other than you know, omg she's adorable, but that's all he could focus on orz Boy you're burnt, stop thinking "she's cute" and do something--like taking off that shirt of yours geez...

Mia wasn’t able to meet his eyes at first, instead firmly looking at the ground. She couldn’t stand to see if he looked as angry as she imagined he would. She hated the thought of anyone being upset with her. But, of course he would look furious, she thought; who wouldn’t after being burned by their own drink? And of course, there was probably others looking at them now, all probably judging the situation and how clumsy she had been and--
"I-I'm fine... Are you okay? You..." That tone wasn’t one that she had expected in the slightest. Was he not going to yell at her, after all? "Y-Your shoes..."
That got her to look up at him, then to her shoes, then back to him, all the while uncertain of how to respond. He didn’t even look angry, either. How had she gotten off so lucky? “O-Oh, I’m not worried about my shoes! And I'm fine, but, are you okay, Mister…?” She could only trail off, since she had no clue what his name was. Under normal circumstances, she could have asked by now, but this was not a typical situation for her, and she had never been the most tactful when she panicked. The question of his name then became all but forgotten as her mind jumped to trying to figure out how to make this right. She couldn’t just do nothing.
“I’m so sorry,” She said again, kneeling long enough to retrieve her bag, then taking his hand to guide him away from the mess of cappuccino on the floor. “Um, uh, I have some tissues in my purse, but I don’t know if they’ll help much. Um… I can buy you another drink, at least? Nej, I insist I do.” She could feel her face heat up more the longer she talked, thoroughly embarrassed by the entire situation. She could only hope he wasn’t the type to laugh at how bright red she must have become. “....I really am very sorry. I should have been paying more attention to where I was going...” Hopefully he would be accepting of her multiple apologies.
@puchi , pls, focus on something other than the cute girl |D

“O-Oh, I’m not worried about my shoes! And I'm fine, but, are you okay, Mister…?”
Just hearing that this pretty young lady was fine was enough to make Lovino sigh in relief; the last thing he wanted was to hear she got burnt or hurt in any manner and it be his fault. After all, it could never be her's. Such young cute lady could never be at fault. As the sea blue eyes moved up to meet his olives, he could feel the faint taint of flush come to his face by the heat rising seemingly suddenly. It was only when he saw her long blonde hair that he thought she was cute, her voice made her sound adorable, but those blue eyes were what finally made the brunet male tense. It was as if he never heard her ask if he was okay, as he was dumbfounded by the fact that such a boring everyday life at this good for nothing cafe and campus life could be changed immediately by giving him the fortune of meeting this fair lady. "H...Huh... A-Ah, I'm fine. I'm fine, really. I'm okay...!" A few seconds delayed, Lovino was able to catch up from his momentary daze and immediately followed it up with a rushed messy response as such. He was only going to continue, but she cut him off first, making him pause for a second that allowed him to calm himself. His mind, yes, but his pounding heart, more importantly. And hopefully cool the heat from his face away to focus it more on another area... Like his burning chest. As if suddenly reminded, he gave a small yelp and used his hands to pull at his shirt a bit, easing it from sticking its soaked fabric against his skin. “I’m so sorry,” he heard her say again, watching as she knelt down to grab her bag and then his hand to lead him away from the mess on the floor. At the contact, Lovino felt the heat on his face only return, making it harder for him to focus on the real problem in front of himself. “Um, uh, I have some tissues in my purse, but I don’t know if they’ll help much. Um… I can buy you another drink, at least? Nej, I insist I do.” "I... I can buy myself a new drink, that's fine." He responded at first, it being the first that grasped his attention. He stepped aside to grab some napkins from the table nearby, just trying to soak the quickly cooling liquid on his shirt, dabbing at the stain slightly to not press it up against himself at the same time. "Your feet, though... It got it pretty bad, didn't it? Are you sure you're okay? Do you need some ice or something...?" At least for him, he had the shirt as a protection from the burning beverage. The girl in front of him, unfortunately, wasn't so lucky when it came to her feet lacking shield. He was going to continue to ask if she needed anything, but the girl continued. “....I really am very sorry. I should have been paying more attention to where I was going...” "...I wasn't really paying attention, either. Don't worry about it." He decided to say, hoping that would at least ease her apologies in the slightest. Lovino worried as her face turned red, hesitating, not knowing whether she would cry on the spot or just get angry for some reason. He just wanted to put it past them, not dwell on it for too long. Sure he would have to put his shirt through some intense cleaning (or just buy a new one, no big deal), but that was nothing that was on his agenda at the moment. He just wanted to see the girl less stressed. "What's your name?" Lovino asked, offering her a small smile, hoping introducing one another would ease the pressure of at least the 'stranger' aspect. He heard before that when one introduced to another, they could be more at ease when speaking. Hopefully, that was true... And that it applied to a... Scared? Girl as well. That and, he wanted a name to put to this beautiful lady.
@thatbambikid I am so done with this boy orz
