Plot/Explanation:
This AU would focus on folkloric, supernatural, and fairy-tale creatures trying to live in modern times along normal humans. You may choose the role of a mythological creature, inspired by the country’s/nation's legends, or a human, that may or may not (yet) know about the existence of the supernatural.
Good, evil, and neutral beings of all sorts have existed and warred with one another since the beginning of time, but now, they are forced to survive in a modern setting alongside humans and deal with mankind's ever-expanding population and settlements. While the good (light) creatures normally look over and protect humans or feed off their happiness and fortune, evil (dark) creatures normally try to manipulate and destroy mankind and often feed off their misery and struggles. Neutral beings can go either way depending on how they are treated (or which course of action is more beneficial to them). Regardless, they are all trying to survive and all magical characters have developed the ability to to shape-shift into what appears to be a normal human, in order to better blend in with their modern, urban surroundings.
Humans cannot use or detect magic from birth, and in many cases, are not able to detect when a creature of myth may be nearby (heck, it could be their best friend and they may not realize it!). However, what they lack in beauty and physical strength or magic, humans are not entirely defenseless, and tend to have a much sharper mind than most mythics, which often allows them to trick the magical creatures. Nevertheless, there have been some humans who have encountered the creatures (for better or worse) and taken to learning more about the ways of their world and occasionally siding with them. there are also those humans who have dedicated their lives protecting mankind and have taken up the role of a Beast Hunter. Depending, on the hunter however, mythics of any alignment may become their prey, or they may simply focus only on the evil ones that have proven themselves to be malicious to humans.
Mankind beware: you may be the most populous (or so you think), but you are by no means the most powerful, and there is potential for you to meet an untimely end or be turned into something of nightmares if you get too involved in the war between good and evil - the light and the dark.

+For help with mythology, creatures, and folklore from specific places, see this link.
+ Since this AU is bound to have religious connotations of all kinds, please be respectful and don't write in or allow your personal religious beliefs to undermine someone else's on an OOC level. If you don't abide by this, then expect to be potentially called down or temp-banned. We don't tolerate intolerance.
+ The setting is modern times, but the city/town/nation isNevada ambiguous.
+ Mythics can hold jobs and participate in other human activities if they so wish in order to 'blend in'.
+ Mythics must have roots/connections in or to the nation that the member is rping as (Ie: If you're playing Taiwan, then your Mythic/creature needs to be of Taiwanese origin or have connections to the land or be mentioned in a legend/myth from that place somehow).
+ "Modern" cryptids such as the Jersey Devil, the Mothman, bigfoot, and creatures similar to them are also allowed so long as evidence of them existing in the country you are playing exists.
+ NO MAJOR DEITIES OR EXTREMELY POWERFUL CREATURES ALLOWED. They're just too OP'd and we want to keep an even playing field for people, more or less… So basically if you can’t kill it/injure it/exorcise it and send it back to the astral plane or at the very least make it go away for a while, don’t play it. Likewise, if it can level a town in one attack, stay away from it. (Creatures that are inherently "immortal" but have other weaknesses or are not extremely powerful will be dealt with as they come.)
+ Minor, general gods, and demigods without definitive, proper names (trickster gods, local forest deities, weather deities etc) are allowed, but 'big-shots' and king gods are off limits (so no, nothing like Zeus, Odin, Archangels, Kings of Hell etc). If you have questions or concerns about this, ask a mod. Additionally, there will be a limit of 3 of these beings allowed and members are NOT allowed to play more than one of these "top-tier" god/demigod creatures.
+ Specific characters from mythology are also not allowed. For example, you can make a gorgon, but it can't be, say, the Medusa.
+ Humans can undergo a transformation of some sort to fully/permanently transform into a supernatural creature such as a werewolf, vampire, but not a dragon, fairy, merman, or the like. Additionally unless there's a cure of some sort, they're going to be stuck in their 'new body' forever. See "DEATH AND RESURRECTION" for more details on transformations that require death as a prerequisite.
+ Witches are not considered humans, and humans cannot become true witches. However, they are permitted to be mystics, oracles, druids, and the like and will have minor powers/magic as a result.
+ Even if good/light beings are normally benign, you still don't wanna piss them off. Some aren't above pranking, injuring, or killing a human if antagonized.
+ Not all Evil/Dark beings are hell-bent on murdering humans. Their actions can range from petty mischief to severely injuring or deceiving a human. Also note that their selfish nature may not always work against humans. Some of these creatures may be rather reasonable, and may offer their services to humans... for a price.
+ You can gain or lose reputation points for your actions. Everyone's reputation starts out as 0 until they start doing Hunts, picking victims, or special circumstances like events. Essentially, reputation is a sort of measure regarding well known or feared you are, so the bigger the number, the more you are known/feared.. For more information, check out the Bounty System.

- Ex: your character can have allegiances to deities, but avoid saying anything akin to "I am the messenger/follower of the One True God". This AU is going to have a lot of gods, and there isn't one that holds sway over the others here. It's fine if you want to say "I am the messenger/follower of the -insertreligiousaffiliationhere- God".

Mini-Bio:
Name: (Sometimes people who don’t be siblings will change their last name….besides Names are good)
Creature: (Provide the specific name and a link to your mythic, please. Humans can just leave as "human". A small definition of about 5 words or so here is also helpful. EX: Incubus - Sex Fiend/Demon)
Alignment/Occupation: (LIGHT, NEUTRAL, OR DARK PER CREATURE TYPE REGARDING THEIR SPECIFIC MYTH AND USUAL ACTIONS NOT THE INDIVIDUAL CHARACTER'S PERSONAL ALIGNMENT. In other words, if they are generally feared/hated by all, are terrifying, or harm humans in anyway, they'll be Dark. if they are loved by all and thought as helpers, protectors, and the like, they are Light. They are neutral if they fall somewhere in between. Alignment and occupation as applicable for humans. Mythics don't need an occupation, but can have one if they want.)
Actual Age/Looks: (if creature, how old they are, vs how old their human 'form' looks ex: 291 yrs but looks 19 yrs. If Human, only put one age)
Appearance: (clothes, physical appearance, items etc. For Creatures, tell us about your true form [and your human guise])
Personality Changes/Quirks: (what's the difference between them normally and them in this setting? This can be done as bullets or a list rather than in paragraph form)
Abilities: (What powers does your Mythic have? Or, if Human, it's not needed, but you could put what they are good at! Remember to keep it reasonable.)
Weaknesses: (1-3 points at least. Creatures, what are you weak to? Humans... you too. )
Backstory: (how did they get where they are today?)
Relationships: (Not just romantic, if they have friends or enemies, they go here too)
Other Things Worth mentioning: (Again, it can be a bulleted list instead of a paragraph)
