AU Name: Alternate HistoryWarning: Bizarre possibilities, butterfly effect, unusual character development, totalitarian governments, anarchy, high potential for dark themes, high potential for silliness. RPer discretion advised.Plot or Explanation of AU: So, what if the Union had lost? What if the Germans won WWII? What if Russia won the Cold War? What if Sealand somehow got respect because non-ridiculous things happened to it? What if German guards guarded the pope? Anything from the massive to the seemingly small, the reasonable to the extremely unlikely, this is the place where you can ask “what if?”, and see where it goes from there.Additional Information: Nothing that I can think of? Any help is appreciated, though. Some of these things are clunky right now.Possible sub-boards: Probably going to be divided into “Past” and “Present”. There will also be a rule that the particular changed event must be tagged in the title in some way, shape, or form, and particularly explained in the first post of a tread. For example, a “what if Russia won the Cold War?” thread might be tagged with [Cold War] and have a more complete explanation of what happened (ie, Russia won the Cold War, read this important event that helped cause it) in the first post. That's a work in progress, though. The important thing is that there's some way of tagging what, exactly, the Alternate History is that's going on. Mini-Profile Specifics: Believe it or not, I actually will need something small like this, despite it technically being Nation!verse, just a different Nation!verse. It's a tracking device, here. Once again, all suggestions are welcome! Name: (Just in case an AH causes a name change, denote the AH and changed name here. Otherwise, this stays as your canon name.) Appearance:(If an AH causes a major appearance change, denote it, once again, with the AH and a brief description of the changes only.)Personality Changes/Quirks: (Here is where the most things will probably go. When there's a notable change you want to keep track of in personality and quirks, note it with the given alternate history and write it out. This way, the same AH can be played multiple times and kept consistent.) Relationships: (Same as the others.)

Hmm hhheh. I like this idea. I really do and I wanna see it for selfish reasons.
I like the whole way you have the appearance/personality/relationship changes set up. Where you Note the AH and describe it a little. It'll definitely cut down on any confusion that may pop up. I assume it'd also look something like this:
My only question right now, however, is how to keep it apart from any potential 2P!verse... I say that because a lot of people like to play that off as a "What If/Alternate History" thing as well, and I do admit that there will probably be some similarities and possibilities for that 'darker' nature to be shown in some places. Unless we somehow just... incorporate the 2P into it? hmmm I'm not sure. Maybe I'm over thinking it again.

This is just a thought, but since this seems to play more on the possibilities of "what if" scenarios within history instead of just following through with one solid universe in which all events had to happen a certain way. If thats the case, would that allow for more freedom instead of just simply saying "If Japan was invaded and split by the Soviet Union during WWII, all events afterwards in Japanese history must happen this way." Yes, its true that history does effect the future, but if someone wanted to play out a certain event just to experiment with what would happen? The term "what if" allows for several (if not infinite) outcomes to occur within history, and trying to organize all of that wouldn't make much sense imo. So if someone wanted to rp a certain battle in which the other nation is the triumphant one, couldn't just play it and never touch on the subject again in the future. can't speak for 2P much since I never got into that AU.
In short, since this is history in contrast to a fictional setting-I believe there is more leeway here than with the other AUs in regards to what is "canon" and what isn't. (And AU history doesn't always mean dark!history? I mean what if the World Wars or Bubonic plague didn't happen? While it could have negative consequences in the future, I guess it would depend on the roleplayers involved if they want to certain events to be intertwined.)
Hope that makes sense.>>

Okay, so I'll try to answer concerns here. Ludwig Beilschmidt: I don't think that 2P! would really be a thing here- and this is coming from someone who doesn't actually mind a well-played 2P character. The thing is, the main draw of 2P is that their personalities have several features that are polar opposites. There are various historical changes in that AU in my headcanon too, but the characters began their lifespan as inherently different people than the nations we have here. In addition, they have a very different design, which is another draw. I personally don't think someone's inherent personality would change quite that much here, nor would their character design. I mean, sure, some darker things might come out, but in the end, I don't think this AU is intended for 2P or should necessarily breed it. Maybe you agree or disagree with this? Tell me your opinion? @po: I mostly understand what you're saying and agree with you. This is intended to be a place to play out alternate histories that you've always wanted to try, and two different people might disagree and want that same alternate history to turn out differently, and that's fine. This is why I'm struggling with things like sub-boards: not only is there an extremely wide berth of possibilities, but organizing this is sorta difficult! That being said, I'd like to still see a mini-profile organization system, so that if someone creates an AH that they want to return to, they have notes to look back on. Plus, it would be interesting to see all of the little changes that might result. Also, the organization system is somewhat required for an AU proposal, so there's that... Thinking about it, would it solve the problem if the AH tags in the mini-profiles also had the creator's name, so that different AHs centered around the same event can be separated more easily?

Good, I really just wanted to clarify that in case there was confusion down the road or if someone tried to slip a 2P in (I wanted to propose such a verse in the future specific to them anyway). Just thought it worth noting and clarifying really quick. But no, I agree for the most part.

Yep exactly! Sorry if that sounded awkward, I wasn't sure if that was an objective of yours but since we're aboard the same train of thought there's nothing to worry about.~
To keep things simple, may I suggest possibly organizing by century? You could have a sub-board for ancient/older roleplays (Which wouldn't be a major dealing right now seeing as the site doesn't have ancients as of now, and any other character/country that would be around at that time would most likely be really young.) The 1st millennium could have its own section representing the Dark Ages...and then I'd say by around the 16th century, you could separate the boards by century. By then 20th and 21st centuries, you could even create more more boards to split events be decade. (Though this might be overcomplicating matters, segregation by century seems most convenient in my eyes.) But these are all suggestions. Don't have to take my word for it!
And I'm sorry but I'm not entirely what you mean by the last thing you said? Care to specify please? ^^;;

Now that I understand it a little better... may I suggest not using overarching profiles, and just putting mini blurbs in the first post for each thread?
So, for example, if in one "what-if" scenario, Lili is dependent upon Austria instead of Switzerland, perhaps how that changed her - she might be more musically inclined, and more of a noblewoman with tendencies to avoid talking to those that are "lower" than her? (just an example, I really don't know that it'd change much...)
And if in another, she's Queen of the World and the strongest nation out there - well, then that'd be her strengths, weaknesses, and how that came about.

@liliblume: I actually really like that idea. It makes more organizational sense than what I've been trying to do with the mini-profiles, at least, and will feel less cluttered. All in favor, say aye?
@po: The last thing I said probably doesn't apply if the profiles are at the beginning of the threads? But basically, you'd say a member name and the name of the AH, in case two AHs had very similar names and circumstances.
